What Are Sage Sticks
A smudge stick, or sage stick, is a bundle of dried herbs that are burned as part of a cleansing ritual. Of course sage is the primary herb used and some sage sticks might only contain sage.
Sage is primarily chosen for its’ healing and cleansing powers.
The act of burning these herbs is called a smudging. A smudging is a ritual to clear the energy and air of a physical space, or an object, or even a person.
Sage is known to have healing properties and with the power of intention and spiritual connection with the source of all existence, the burning of Sage assist with healing and clearing. The use of Sage for spiritual purposes dates back many years and used by many different religions and spiritual leaders. Today Sage is still used for it healing and clearing purposes. It is believed that the scent of the Sage (while burning) is intolerable to lower energies (lower frequencies, lower vibrations, negative energies, bad energies, evil spirits, spiritual curses, & etc.) and at the same time aids to restore, balance, detach unhealthy attachments (behavioral patterns in relationship of all kind, addictions, & etc.), and to raise and attract higher energies, frequencies, and vibrations.
HOW TO USE A SAGE STICK
No matter what your mindset is, when you are ready to light a smudge stick it’s a great idea to set an intention for your smudging. Visualize the outcome of cleansing your space. Think about chasing away negative energy and replacing it with positive energy.
Be sure to open a window before lighting your bundle. The sage smoke needs to be able to escape and it also gives the negative energy a way out of the space.
IF YOU PURCHASED A WHITE SAGE, PLACE A LINE OF PLAIN WHITE SALT TO LINE YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS WITH CRYSTALS IN THE CORNER.
To cleanse a room just carry the smoking bundle into the corners and use a feather or your hand to direct the smoke. Start from the inside to the outside of your house where the open doors are. Once you complete the house place on fireproof container and allow to burn until it extinguishes itself.
